Martine Bagot, MD, PhD, Hôpital Saint Louis, Paris, France, presents results from post hoc analyses of the MAVORIC trial (NCT01728805), a Phase III study evaluating mogamulizumab versus vorinostat in patients with previously treated cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). Follow-up studies indicated that long-term responses were not associated with new side effects. In addition, a subset of patients is still in partial or complete response after long-term treatment with mogamulizumab. This interview took place at the EORTC Cutaneous Lymphoma Group 20-21 meeting in Marseille.

The appendix is a small, finger-like tube that extends from the large intestine, specifically the cecum, on the lower right side of the abdomen.


Its exact position can vary slightly from person to person, but it generally resides in the abdomen's right lower quadrant (RLQ).


Understanding the appendix's location is essential as it differentiates appendicitis from other abdominal issues, such as gastrointestinal infections, kidney stones, or ovarian cysts.


Appendicitis Symptoms


Appendicitis symptoms can vary among individuals, but there are several common signs.


These symptoms include Abdominal pain: The pain often begins near the navel and migrates to the lower right side of the abdomen. The pain may become more severe when moving, coughing, or taking deep breaths.


Abdominal swelling: The abdomen may become swollen and tender to the touch, especially on the lower right side.


Loss of appetite: Individuals with appendicitis may experience a lack of appetite and may even feel nauseous.


Fever: A low-grade fever (usually between 99-102°F or 37.2-38.9°C) can accompany appendicitis.


Recognizing these symptoms helps establish an early diagnosis and treatment, leading to a successful recovery.


Treatment of appendicitis

Appendicitis is typically treated with surgery to remove the inflamed appendix, known as an appendectomy. Antibiotics may sometimes be prescribed to treat the infection before surgery.
