In the United States, there were about 60,000 new thyroid cancer cases (45,310 in women, and 14,910 in men) in 2013. Thyroid cancer has a high cure rate, but it's important to go to a specialized, multidisciplinary center to ensure proper care. Naifa Busaidy, M.D., associate professor in Endocrine Neoplasia and Hormonal Disorders at MD Anderson Cancer Center, discusses all forms of thyroid cancer: papillary, follicular, hurthle cell carcinoma, medullary and anaplastic.
