From power to, Parvez Musharraf's rule as President of Pakistan ended in 2008, following a series of political and legal controversies, including impeachment proceedings and a state of emergency declared in 2007. He was arrested and placed under house arrest on multiple occasions, and faced several court cases, including treason charges, before his death in 2020.
