Al–Shifa Eye Hospital, Laser & Glaucoma Center, that Retinoblastoma is the commonest Intraocular Tumor in children before the age of 3 years. A few cases of the tumor present at age later than 3 years. It usually presents with white pupil ( leukocoria ), sometimes with squinting eye and in advanced cases as a big growth involving Eyelids and skin of the face. There are some other causes of white pupil such as congenital Cataract, Retrolental Fibroplasia, Endophthalmitis, vitreous hemorrhage or Coat’s Disease. It must be diagnosed and differentiated after detailed examination of retina, by dilating both the pupils as the disease may be Bilateral. B – Scan & MRI of the eye ball will confirm the diagnosis. After confirming the diagnosis, if the lesion is small, it could be treated with laser photo coagulation; Cryothrapy, radiation, or chemotherapy. But if the lesion is involving more than half of retina, bulging in the vitreous and causing glaucoma or involving the optic nerve, Enncleation of the eye ball is indicated to prevent its spread and to save life. It is mandatory to examine both the eyes retina in detail because disease may be bilateral
