In This Video, Dr Praveen Kammar (Surgical Cancer Oncologist, Mumbai) Explained the difference between a one-piece stoma bag and a two-piece stoma bag?

0:59 What exactly is a one-piece stoma bag?
The flange and pouch are attached in one-piece stoma bags, and it is a flat bag, so it will not be detected if worn beneath your clothes.
It is best to use a one-piece stoma bag in the learning phase because it is less expensive than two bags and easier to use, so it will be a better choice in the beginning, and as you learn to use and manage it, you may gradually move to two-piece stoma bags.

2:58 Is there a disadvantage to using a one-piece stoma bag?
Yes, there may be certain drawbacks to using a one-piece stoma bag.
1. You cannot reuse it after usage; you must entirely replace it.
2. The bag cannot be washed.
3. You cannot change it to your liking.
4. If the bag fills with gas, there is no other way to get it out except to unzip it from the bottom, which can make your hands and clothes dirty, or to put another implant in it to directly eject the gas.

4:50 What exactly is a two-piece stoma bag?
The flange and pouch are not joined in the Two-piece stoma bag.
Moreover, it is more expensive than a one-piece stoma bag.
Because two-piece stoma bags feature a separate ring, they are not as flat as one-piece stoma bags and may be visible beneath clothing.

6:07 What are the benefits of a two-piece stoma bag?
1. You can change it.
2. The gas can be released by gradually opening the flange.
3. Some two-piece stoma bags may be washed.
4. It does not need to be changed on a regular basis.

Because the flange of the Two-piece stoma bag is tougher, it may not fit well if the skin contour around the stoma is uneven.
