If colon cancer is diagnosed in later stages then it can be controlled till the possible time. Hence cure is possible in some cases but treatment is possible in every case of colon cancer.

There are 4 stages of colon cancer -
Stage 1 - Colon cancer is confined to the mucosa and has spread to muscles & the survival rate is 92%.
Stage 2 - Colon cancer is confined to the colon & the survival rate is 72%.
Stage 3 - When colon cancer has spread to organs or lymph nodes & the survival rate is 72%.
Stage 4 - When colon cancer has spread to organs such as the lungs and liver & the survival rate is 15% - 20%. But due to modern techniques, the survival rate is increasing steadily.

So it is not that Colon Cancer is a death sentence, it can be treated and also can be cured.
