00:27 - What is Ewing sarcoma?
Ewing Sarcoma, also known as PNET (Primitive Neuro Ectodermal Tumor), is a rare type of musculoskeletal cancer that can be found in bones as well as the muscle tissues around the bones. It is more commonly found in long bones such as the forearm bones or thigh bones. It is also found in pelvic bones, spine and ribs. It is found in neck muscles, thigh muscles, stomach muscles and back muscles as well.
01:32 - What are the symptoms of Ewing Sarcoma?
Pain and swelling are the most prominent symptoms of Ewing sarcoma. Fever is also one of the symptoms of Ewing sarcoma. Ewing Sarcoma has a lot of localised symptoms as well. For example, if the Ewing sarcoma is present in the thighs then it can inhibit regular movement and can affect daily lives. Other symptoms include weakness and loss of control.

There are no specific or certain causes of Ewing Sarcoma, as is the case in most bone cancers. There are no specific risk factors as well. Ewing Sarcoma is predominantly found in the younger population i.e. children, teenagers, and young adults. Older patients can also face this cancer but the cases are mostly found in younger people.

Ewing Sarcoma is a high-grade disease and if not treated at the right time, can be fatal and life-threatening. The pain that is, initially, periodic becomes constant after a certain period of time. Then it becomes resting pain. Ewing Sarcoma most commonly spreads in the lungs as is the case in other sarcomas. Ewing Sarcoma can lead to pathological fracture which can cause due to the bone becoming weak due to the Sarcoma.
