New Rules for Colon Cancer Screening

Colorectal cancer screenings should start at 45, instead of 50 years of age. That’s the new recommendation of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), an independent panel of medical experts.

UW Medicine Gastroenterologist and Fred Hutchison Cancer researcher Dr. Rachel Issaka says these new recommendations will likely increase the use of at-home colon cancer screening for those who don’t have symptoms or a family history of color cancer.
