James Goedert states that with respect of the infections, the most important tools to prevent cancer are vaccines, such are papillomavirus vaccine to prevent cervical and tonsil cancers. Regarding hepatitis B vaccine, it doesn't only prevent the cancer but also the liver diseases they may cause. There is no vaccine for hepatitis C, but its treatment is effective in term of not getting cancer.

Regarding HIV, people who are treated with effective anti-retroviral drugs really have now a normal life-expectancy. These drugs really prevent the occurrence of the most frequent malignancies in this population which are Kaposi sarcoma and non-Hodgkin lymphomas.

In the future, we should be on the verge of having rapid tests for viruses which can be done in the doctor's practice.
