There are a few ways to be screened for colorectal cancer, including a colonoscopy or a fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kit. You can also complete a fecal occult blood test (FOTB), which tests for blood in the stool. Bleeding in the digestive tract can be caused by a variety of conditions, including colorectal cancer.

Colorectal cancer is a disease where cancer cells form in the tissues of the colon or the rectum. Colorectal cancer screening helps prevent cancer and find cancer early, when it is easier to treat.

Huntsman Cancer Institute and University of Utah Health recommend that adults should start screening for colorectal cancer at age 45.
