How do we treat Stage IV that is the final stage of liver cancer? Cancer is a disease in which cells in the body grow out of control. When cancer starts in the liver, it is called liver cancer. Symptoms of liver cancer often get unnoticed in its early stages. In this video, Dr. Sanket Mehta (Surgical oncologist, SSO Hospital, Mumbai) will tell us more about this topic.

Final stage liver cancer is often considered synonyms with end-stage liver cancer with cirrhosis which is not the case and treatment of both is very different.

Patients with cirrhosis can get diagnosed with liver cancer which is limited to the liver can be treated with liver transplantation. Liver transplantation treats both liver dysfunction as well as the removal of primary tumours of the liver.
If one is experiencing a liver tumour with adequate liver function which has spread outside the liver to other body organs, these patients have very low chances of recovery with either of the two treatment methods.
