A rise in colorectal cancer cases amongst young adults led to new national guidelines lowering the recommended screening age for colorectal cancer from age 50 to 45 (May 2021). Colorectal cancer screening can prevent colorectal cancer through the removal of abnormal growths or polyps. It can also help doctors detect colorectal cancers early when they are most likely curable.
