2018 was one of the toughest years of Charlie Smithgall’s life. After being attacked and robbed in his family owned pharmacy, Charlie discovered he had kidney cancer and came to Fox Chase. His care team was able to save a good portion of his kidney function through a partial nephrectomy, which helped to maintain his kidney after surgery and recover more quickly. Today, Charlie is back to spending time with his family and enjoying his collection of Civil War memorabilia, his favorite hobby.
