Proteins from a patient's Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) are multiplied in tobacco, purified, and then reintroduced back into the patient, with the expectation the body will produce an immune response. This was a clinical trial in 2001, and produced positive results. A number of patients went into remission. This type of therapy may one day replace chemotherapy.
