A teenager's story of struggle shows why redesigning the colostomy bag is necessary
Emma Anderson spent half her life using a colostomy bag. That was a tough experience to say the least. Stories like hers inspired the creation of the 2020 Innovation Challenge Pitch Competition, organized by the Center for Instructional Innovation at Augusta University.
The competition aims to provide innovative, creative and entrepreneurial solutions for a significant healthcare challenge that affects the quality of lives of hundreds of thousands of patients. This year's competition focuses on a significant discomfort, distress and anxiety caused by the use of colostomy bags.
Student teams under faculty advisement were invited to participate in this competition to offer a creative and innovative solution to the challenge. They can also win up to $3000 in scholarships.
