Reece Trumpelmann was diagnosed with Gorlin-Goltz syndrome, ​a rare autosomal dominant disorder, and could really use your help.

After 10 years of seemingly unrelated symptoms such as hydrocephalus, hydrocele issues and an enlarged cranium, Reece Trumpelmann was diagnosed with Gorlin-Goltz syndrome (NBCCS) at the age of 11.

Gorlin-Goltz syndrome is a genetic disorder which affects many parts of the body.​

There are no specialists in South Africa who can treat Reece because this cancer is so rare. Reece needs to go to the US to receive treatment that can save his jaw. But this treatment is prohibitively expensive and his family is already heavily under strain with medical bills they can't cope with. HEAD SWELLING.
RIB ABNORMALITIES.
SCLEROSIS OF THE SPINE AND CALICO FIXATION OF THE BRAIN.
REECE SADLY HAS MOST OF THESE COMPLICATIONS ALREADY.

Minimal residual disease (MRD) after therapy has unequivocal prognostic value in acute myeloid leukemia. There is growing evidence that the presence of MRD detected by multiparametric flow cytometry (MFC) and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR)-based methods, has improved the assessment of treatment response and risk stratification for clinical management. New molecular methods, such as high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS), have evolved into routine laboratory tools to improve the sensitivity and specificity of MRD detection. In this talk, Dr. Chen reviews the methodological approaches of MRD detection, discusses the clinical implications of MRD in risk stratification and suggests potential areas for future investigation.

After viewing this lecture, participants should be able to:
1. Describe the methodological principles of minimal residual disease testing in acute myeloid leukemia.
2. Recognize the advantages and limitation of different methods for minimal residual disease testing.

Since our first story with a Charlotte-area flight attendant forced to show her prosthetic breast during a pat-down, the cancer survivor says she has been bombarded with media requests and phone messages from strangers around the country.

"The only reason I'm bringing this up," says Cathy Bossi, "is that I do believe the government is getting too intrusive with our bodies. I do believe in security. I honest to God believe in security. But I do believe it has gone too far."
