Our son was born with a rare disorder called Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome which is an over growth disorder causing macroglossia. We know that he has a long journey ahead and it may not always be easy. In the beginning, the road ahead will be bumpy however as time goes on, his journey will be smooth sailing ⛵.
He is in good hands...Doctors, specialist, mom, dad, family and friends, Guardian Angels and God above are all supporting him. He already has so many friends and family supporting him through prayer, love and warm thoughts.

Bursa'da 2,5 yaşındaki Can Kuşoğlu'nun vücudunun bir kısmı daha hızlı büyüyor. Tedavi için ev ve arabalarını satan aile, dünyanın herhangi bir yerinde tıp camiasından gelecek müjdeli haberi bekliyor.

Şener ve Gönül Kuşoğlu çiftinin 2.5 yıl önce 4 kilo 960 gram olarak dünyaya gelen çocukları Can'ın, doğduktan 1 ay sonra vücudunun sağ tarafı sol tarafına göre daha hızlı büyümeye başladı. Anne Gönül Kuşoğlu, ilk başta çocuğunu giydirirken incitmiş olabileceğini, bu yüzden bir tarafının şişmiş olabileceğini düşündü. Çocuğunun sağ tarafındaki şişlik devam edince bir terslik olduğunu anlayan anne, minik Can'ı Bursa'da hastaneye götürdü. Burada teşhis konulamayınca aile çocuklarını İstanbul'daki hastanelere götürdü. Burada doktorlar bir hastalıktan şüphelendiklerini, bu hastalığın tahlillerinin yurt dışında bir laboratuarda yapıldığını söyledi. Aile, çocuklarını tedavi ettirebilmek için oturdukları evi ve arabalarını sattı. Aile, masraflarını kendi cebinden karşılayarak, tahlilleri Hollanda'da bulunan laboratuara gönderdi. Burada yapılan incelemede, Can'ın dünyada nadir hastalıklar arasında bulunan beckwith-wiedemann sendromu (BWS) olduğu öğrenildi.
Bu hastalığı öğrenen aile, çocuklarını tedavi ettirmek için başvuru yapsa da, bu hastalığın dünyada tedavisinin olmadığını öğrenince ne yapacaklarını şaşırdı. Çaresiz aile şimdi dünyada bu hastalığın tedavisini yapan bir doktor ve hastane olduğu yönünde müjdeli bir haber bekliyor.

Bu hastalığın tedavisi ve ilacının olmadığını ifade eden anne Gönül Kuşoğlu, "Çocuğum ömür boyu düzenli olarak kontrol altında olacak. Dünyada bu hastalık bir iki kişide ortaya çıkıyor. Can 15 günde bir başta nefroloji, onkoloji, kardiyoloji olmak üzere 11 ayrı birimde kontrolden geçiyor. Çocuğumun böbreklerini kist sarmış. Bu kistlerin vücudunu sarma ihtimali var. En büyük korkumuz bu. Bu hastalığı tedavi ederim diyecek bir hastane ve doktordan haber bekliyoruz. Tedavi için evimizi ve arabamızı sattık" dedi.
