In this lecture given at Surgical Grand Rounds in January 2016, Ms Janelle O'Sullivan details the surgical care of a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma of the neck. Ms O'Sullivan won the annual Intercollegiate Case Presentation Compe****ion with this presentation at the recent RCSI Charter Day Meeting.

When she was seven months pregnant, Georgie Dehnert discovered a m**** in her ear canal, which was later diagnosed as adenoid cystic carcinoma. She endured four surgeries and 30 rounds of radiation to eliminate the cancer, which muffled her hearing and caused her to lose her ear. A hearing aid helped her regain her hearing, and Georgie says a prosthetic ear she received at MD Anderson helped her feel “pretty again.”
