Where Do You Feel Liver Cancer Pain?
Liver cancer pain is typically concentrated on the top right of the abdominal area. Liver cancer pain pain can sometimes extend into the back, where it causes discomfort near the bottom of the right shoulder blade. Pain can also occur in the lower right portion of the rib cage.
Liver cancer can also cause "referred pain." Referred pain is defined as pain felt at a site different from the injured or diseased organ or body part. It happens because the nerves in your body are all connected. Liver cancer discomfort can also come from referred pain caused by the enlarged liver putting pressure on the nerves under the diaphragm. This may result in pain in the right shoulder, because some of the nerves under the diaphragm connect to nerves there.

When cancer develops in the liver, it destroys liver cells and compromises normal liver function. Your liver performs more than 500 metabolic tasks, so it's vital to your immune system and general health. Once the liver fails, only a liver transplant can save the patient's life.
