What is Parathyroid Adenomas?
Parathyroid adenomas are non-cancerous tumors that develop in the parathyroid glands, which are four small glands in the neck behind the thyroid gland. These glands produce parathyroid hormone (PTH), which regulates the calcium and phosphate levels in the body. When a parathyroid adenoma develops, it produces too much PTH, leading to hyperparathyroidism, which results in abnormally high levels of calcium in the blood. Hyperparathyroidism can lead to symptoms such as bone pain, muscle weakness, kidney stones, and digestive issues.

I firmly believe in tailoring the treatment of my patients as per their needs without compromising on the outcomes. The needs of a young lady with breast cancer and no financial constraints is likely to be very different from the needs of an elderly lady coming from a remote village. To understand the needs of the patients we have to have a frank and open hearted discussion with them. I believe that advanced technology like robotic surgery should be used in appropriate cases because when it is used indiscreetly it can cause more harm than good.
