Amyloid Light Chain (AL) Amyloidosis is a rare disease where abnormal antibody (immunoglobulin) proteins are produced by defective plasma cells in the bone marrow. These abnormal proteins misfold and clump together to form amyloids and may deposit in tissues and/or organs. Amyloid buildup in organs, particularly in the heart and kidneys, can result in significant organ damage and organ failure that may ultimately be fatal.
