What causes brain tumours? Meningioma is a benign variety of brain tumour that needs special mention. Gliomas and other malignant tumours are brain cancers and are dealt with in a separate video. This episode will focus on meningiomas. Dr Jaydev Panchwagh discusses causes of brain tumours, their types and genetic transmission.

We are often asked this question: What Causes Brain Tumour? What is a meningioma?
There is no particular reason for a brain tumour to be caused, occasionally it has a genetic component.

Brain tumors may be non cancerous(benign) or cancerous(malignant). They may arise primarily in the brain (primary brain tumours) or may spread to the brain from a cancer elsewhere in the body(secondary). This is also called a brain metastasis.

What are the early signs of brain tumour? This has been discussed in a previous video. Link is given here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltt2RQCI3sE
Do brain tumours go away? If they are benign and are treated early, and have been removed totally, it is highly likely that they will not recur. Benign tumours like meningiomas may recur, and they are called recurrent meningiomas.
is there a cure for brain tumour? Well, yes, depending on what we are dealing with and the facilities available, and the neurosurgical team in charge.
