David Goldberg, MD, explains that exercise can reduce one's cancer risk by helping maintain balance in the body. "What you take in in calories versus what you burn makes a difference in how we look and what we wear, but it also makes a difference in the possibility of cells going wrong while they're dividing [causing cancer]." Aerobic exercise like running, walking, swimming and biking is better than weightlifting for the purpose of reducing cancer risk. Dr. Goldberg prescribes exercise for his colon cancer patients because it's almost as effective as chemotherapy in increasing their chances of a cure.

It's important for people to love exercise from as early an age as possible. Exercise helps prevent childhood obesity, which leads to adult obesity. Parents should incorporate a love of movement into their children's lives to prepare them for lifelong health. Learn more at www.10TV.com/TowardaCancerFreeWorld.
