TONGUE TWISTER BWS
In honor of Beckwith Wiedemann Awareness Day, we are launching a tongue twister challenge to help support BWS research and raise awareness for this rare syndrome. Our son Jacob was diagnosed with BWS shortly after birth. He had hypoglycemia, and feeding & breathing issues related to macroglossia (enlarged tongue). The doctors knew something was wrong, but couldn't tell us what it was...so we ended up doing our own research. The problem with this is that early detection is key in saving lives, since most babies are born with hypoglycemia and need to begin cancer screenings. We almost lost Jacob due to a lack of awareness. This is why raising awareness is so important.
