The State of Lung Cancer and Screenings

Kentucky is one of the leading states in lung cancer diagnosis. Early detection and referral is a must to assist these patients in living full lives. The data on current lung cancer screenings shows that it is not being utilized to the fullest capacity. Therefore a need has been identified to increase screenings among high risk patients who fall in the guidelines qualify for lung cancer screenings, their management, follow solitary and ground glass lung nodules

Target Audience: All physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses, and other interested practitioners.

Objectives: At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

1. Identify patients that are eligible for lung cancer screening
2. Understand the recommendations for follow up of a pulmonary nodule
3. Understand the work up to determine candidacy for lung cancer treatment
4. Understand the role of different treatment modalities in the treatment of stage 1 NSCLC
