Common Causes:
Alcohol
Smoking
Sedentary lifestyle
Obesity
Genetic reasons
It can also be associated to other cancers.
Symptoms:
Anemia
Asthma
Blood in stool, appearing black.
Stomach pain
Unexplained weightloss
Loss of appetite
Diagnosis:
Blood tests
Endoscopy
Abdomen Ultrasound
Upper J endoscopy is done and a small biopsy piece is sent to pathology studies, after this CT scan or pet CT scan is done, to check if the cancer has become stage 4, and whether operations is to be done.
Treatments :
After finding out the stage, I ,II,III,IV
Stage I can be cured by removal using endoscopic treatments, or surgery can be done to remove the cancer,
Stage II can also be removed using surgery.
In Stage III operation may not be able to be performed, either chemotherapy and radiation or just chemo therapy can be used to reduce the size of cancer tumor and then it can be removed using surgery.
In Stage IV no surgery cant be done. Chemotherapy or chemotherapy with radiation is done.
Stage I : IA,IB have a 90% chance of being completely cured
Stage II : 50-60% chance of curing
Stage III : only about 5% chance of curing.
Stage IV : Doesn’t get cured.
