Prostate cancer is the 2nd most commonly occurring cancer in men and in New Zealand, it is the second deadliest. But Dr. Daniel Cornfeld, Mātai Clinical Lead & Head of Radiology at Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti (Gisborne Hospital), is leading a study that could transform the prostate cancer diagnosis pathway in the country, making it more accurate by identifying more significant cancers and fewer insignificant cancers. This project is expected to have an immediate positive impact in Tairāwhiti Gisborne, especially for Māori men, who are statistically most at risk and make up approximately 40% of the male population in the region.
