Richard Ware was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a form of leukemia, in July 2013. Initially he sought treatment in his hometown, but was discouraged with the lack of treatment options they offered. After researching other treatments, he decided MD Anderson offered him the best choices for treatment.
