My battle against adenoid cystic carcinoma
In the late fall of 2013, I spent five weeks in Seattle undergoing neutron beam radiotherapy and gamma knife procedure to attack the cancer growing in my nasopharynx. My Stage IV tumor was deemed inoperable. I met so many wonderful people during my time there, some fighting cancer, some caregivers, nurses, doctors, radiation technicians, and new friends. Meanwhile, across the country, my family and friends were making sure that my kids were well taken care of and fed so that I could focus on healing. Now that I am home recovering, my friends and family, and people I don't even know (yet), are helping me through this difficult time. Through this journey, I have been reminded if the most important things in life: faith in God, friendship, family, memories, kindness, and love, to name a few. Blessings abound in my life, in good times and in difficult ones. I will always be grateful for God showing me the blessings in my life!
The song used in the slideshow is Blessings, sang by Laura Story.
