**** Translation in English ****

Liver is an important part in our body. Lot of people do not know that liver is equally important to the heart & lungs.

With habitual drinking, the alcohol that enters body exits through liver in general. If this happens with limitation, the liver can be saved or else the liver could be damaged. The next main reason for liver damage is hepatitis virus. The reason we have a dedicated World Hepatitis Day is because Hepatitis virus is affecting more number of people not only in India but throughout the world. Unsafe sex & drugs through syringes are the main reasons for transfer of hepatitis virus through blood.

You might ask if there are medications to cure liver damage. Unfortunately, we do not have any medication to cure liver damage in English Medicine or in any other Medicine. We can safeguard the liver at the current state but medication to cure damaged liver is not possible. The name of final stage damaged liver is cirrhosis. In short, 90% of liver cancer, creates in damaged liver and only 10% of liver cancer can be seen in normal liver.

The reason behind - the damaged liver helps the cancer grow like how the fertilizer help plants grow on land. So, the liver cancer forms and grows on its own and we cannot do anything about it.

"I did a master health check up here and they found on CT scan, that my liver had an abnormal growth..."

There was a small cyst on the liver and we suspected it to be liver cancer. So, if we suspect it to be liver cancer, then it is better to remove the cyst through laparoscopic surgery. Likewise, we did a laparoscopic surgery to remove the cyst and the lab test confirmed it as liver cancer. But since we removed the affected parts of the liver along with the cyst, it was a final laparoscopic surgery and it does not require anymore treatment.

If you look at liver surgery, while doing big incision - the patient will require more than 10 days of bed rest. One or two months is required to get back to normal work.

Doctor : "Sir, now tell me how many days have elapsed since your surgery..."

Patient : "It is 4 days past surgery - the first two days was difficult... but now I feel completely normal..."

This patient is an example. It is just 4 days since surgery and he is fit to go home. Hence, Laparoscopic surgery is best suited for liver surgery.
