People who have cirrhosis will get liver cancer. Causes for cirrhosis are fatty live due to diabetes or obesity, alcoholic fatty liver, Hepatitis B and C . It depends upon stage of the cancer. If it is detected early it can be cured by liver resection or liver transplant. If it is late stage there not much to do. In between we can slow the tumor progression by few years.It depends on stage and physical condition of the patient. If it is early stage it can be cured with liver transplantation or liver resection.
For preventing liver cancer you need to prevent cirrhosis. For that you need to avoid Hepatitis B by Hepatitis B immunizations. You need to prevent fatty liver by following good lifestyle including good diet and exercises. If you get cirrhosis you need to diagnose it early so that potential cure can be given in the form of liver transplant or liver resection.
