When a patient with ALK-positive lung cancer receives a diagnosis, typically targeted therapy is the fist line of treatment. But what happens when the cancer progresses and that treatment is no longer working? The University of Michigan Judith Tam ALK Positive Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Research Initiative seeks to help ALK-positive patients find the best path forward. The overarching purpose of the project being to foster rapid adoption of key discoveries that will directly enhance the quality and length of patient's lives. Since its inception in late 2021, the initiative has made extraordinary progress towards it objectives and continues to accelerate forward. This initiative is made possible by a generous $7.6M gift from the Judith and Richard Tam Foundation.
