When John Sullivan of Ocala, Florida, learned that his prostate cancer had re-appeared after more than 10 years of dormancy, he was anxious to find the best path to address his disease. At Mayo Clinic – with its expertise, teamwork and technology – John has been able to keep his disease in check and continue enjoying life as an active retiree.

But John is also looking forward to the future, especially now that Mayo Clinic has added a cyclotron to its Florida campus. The machine generates choline C-11 for a positron emission tomography scans (PET), which can detect prostate cancer cells far earlier and with much greater precision than conventional imaging tests. The top ranked hospital also has cyclotron facilities at its campuses in Minnesota and Arizona.
