Let's first understand what is a bone marrow transplant? Bone marrow is the spongy material in between our bones which basically synthesizes all the cells in our blood. When there is a leukemia most of the bone marrow is replaced by blast cells - The goal of a bone marrow transplant is to remove the blast cells and to establish the normal cells that were previously there.
