Caylum Cornelius was just nine months old when he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a rare cancer in which the bone marrow produces abnormal blood cells. Pediatric oncologist Eugene Suh, MD, immediately started Caylum's treatment, which included high-dose chemotherapy, month-long stays at Loyola and ongoing care that continued safely through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today, Caylum is finished with treatment, in remission, and as his father Christopher says, "doing exactly what a one-year old boy should be doing. And for that we are grateful."
