Bladder cancer signs & symptoms | UroChannel
Bladder cancer is the 6th most common cancer in men and the 17th most common cancer in women. Smoking is the main cause but also arsenic in the drinking water is a risk factor. Like all other cancers, bladder cancer doesn't hurt in the beginning. However, there are signs & smyptoms which suggest that something is wrong. Dr. med. dr. phil. Stefan Buntrock, urologist from Gรถttingen, explains in this video on UroChannel what to look out for. Blood in the urine, be it visible or only in microscopic amounts is a red flag. Urothelial malignancy might come in the disguise of a urinary tract infection with urgency and irritative symptoms. It is therefore important to think about cancer in all patients who present with repeated episodes of UTI. A cystoscopy is needed to rule out bladder cancer and urine cultures should be performed to establish the diagnosis of UTI.
