Researchers report that a drug targeting the cancer-causing gene MYC inhibits the function of the gene in a phase I clinical trial. Until now, no other drug has been able to do this safely and effectively. Scientists from VHIO developed a mini-protein called OMO-103 that can enter cells and reach the nucleus. Dr. Elena Garralda, Director of the Early Drug Development Unit at Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) in Barcelona has lead this research.
