Whenever a jaw is removed during oral cancer surgery, the main focus of doctors is to remove the cancer completely and reconstruct the jaw as it was before. Yes, Jaw can be reconstructed, How? let's know about it
There are two types of lower leg bones, one is the Tibia bone and the second is the Fibula Bone.
To rebuild the jaw, doctors may use a piece of the fibula, a bone from the lower leg. They fix this piece with the help of screws and plates. The patient looks exactly the same as he was before.
Also with technology such as 3D Imprinting, one can create parts of the new jaw of the patient, adapted to his anatomy and movements.
For patients who have weak bones, they are recommended for Titanium Implant. Even teeth can be reconstructed. After the jawbone is restored, periodontal surgeons may use dental implants and prosthetic teeth to restore the mouth’s appearance and your ability to chew.
