The type of cancer or ulcer as well as the location factors.
For example, if the ulcer occurs on the tongue, jaws, or under the cheek then the consistency of the ulcer will be hard.

Although it is cancer, it does not spread. The term for it is pleomorphic adenoma.

It can become spreading cancer if it is not surgically removed.
