Unfortunately today I have more bad news about Donut, and that's that she has been diagnosed with a pituitary gland tumor. I was able to get her in for a steroid shot within hours of symptoms popping up, and she is now thankfully doing well. Currently she is on oral prednisone, doxycycline, and cabergoline - the pred is to manage brain inflammation, the doxy is to combat the immune suppression effects of the pred, and the cabergoline is to hopefully slow the growth and possibly even shrink the PT if it is prolactin based (which most rat PT's are). Unfortunately all pituitary gland tumors in rats are ultimately fatal, but with treatment you can get back weeks or even months. Its impossible to say how long Donut has left, but I (and our amazing vet) will be fighting for her, and once the meds stop helping, she will be humanely put to sleep.

**I HAVE YET TO READ** Informed Consent by John A. Byrne- Worked for Dow Corning and discusses the alleged cover-up behind breast implants.

The doctor I saw for my breast explant was Dr. Chun in Newport Beach. I am not affiliated in anyway with him and I do not earn anything if you decide to go see him. I HIGHLY recommend him. He is the only doctor I would trust with my life and in my particular case with my deformity. He did an amazing job, seeing how complicated my case was and the risk of me losing skin. I am very satisfied with my physical results and I am also 70% better after explanting. I recognize I had these implants in my body for over 5 years and the detoxing has just begun. I asked to be put on a cancellation list and my explant surgery was rescheduled a whole year earlier. Yes, he is a very very busy man and the list to explant is a very long one. I understand the frustration and stress you can feel knowing you want to remove them asap so that is my biggest take away from all of this on top of always trusting your surgeon. If I had decided to go under the breast fold I would probably not have skin on the left side of my breast today. ♡

At just 24 years old, Anita was planning her dream wedding with her fiancé, Scott – but she was unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer. Her cancer was aggressive and she had to start treatment including the removal of her right breast, chemotherapy, Herceptin and fertility treatment. Anita and Scott made the decision to cancel their wedding to focus on her treatment.

As a nurse practitioner, Andrea knew she had cancer. She had symptoms like blood in her stool and lower back pain. She just had a baby though, so doctors kept dismissing her symptoms as post-pregnancy problems.

Andrea finally found a doctor who was willing to schedule her in for a colonoscopy right away, and that’s when they found a large mass in her sigmoid colon. She was diagnosed with Stage 3b colorectal cancer where she would do chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery to remove the tumor.

The latest installment of my syndrome series! This collection of videos highlights some of the major syndromes that affect the head and neck.

Gardner Syndrome is a member of the Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) Syndrome family. It is autosomal dominant inheritance with high penetrance and a considerable degree of spontaneous/de novo mutation. Most significantly, these patients have numerous polyps in the colon, which are precancerous. Half of these patients develop colon adenocarcinoma by age 30, and almost all by the 5th decade. Oral findings include osteomas and impacted teeth with or without supernumerary teeth. Other findings include benign skin tumors and ocular fundus/pigmented lesions.

This video discusses the genetic, clinical, radiographic, and histopathologic findings of the syndrome.

Dr. Sandra Kurtin, expert on acute myeloid leukemia (AML), explains that myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS, is also a disorder of abnormal cells in the blood and bone marrow. MDS can develop into AML-MRC because it is also a malignancy, or cancer, of the bone marrow cells. Having a higher-risk type of MDS raises the risk of developing AML later.
