Researchers say a balanced, low-fat diet with fruits, vegetables and grains can lower a woman's risk of death from breast cancer by 21 percent. The results are notable because they come from a rigorous test involving 49,000 women over two decades. CBS News' Laura Podesta reports.

Diet in liver cancer play an important role.
Hepatocyte cancer is rare cancer that affects the liver (your primary liver cells). Mutations in liver cells can result in a tumour that interferes with the liver's fundamental function.
Your appe****e is significantly hampered by liver cancer. Food seems unpalatable due to the disease and therapy of liver cancer. However, to be healthy and strong in the fight against cancer, you must consume a well-balanced diet.

Foods to Eat
1. Lean proteins:
As the liver is unable to metabolize fatty proteins, you must take lean proteins instead. They help you heal faster by boosting your immunity. Chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, nuts and soy, and low-fat dairy products are all examples of lean proteins.
2. Fruits and vegetables:
Farm produce is high in nutrients and will help restore your system. To counteract free radical damage and stay healthy, eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants. Spinach, carrots, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, squash, and sweet potatoes are examples of green vegetables. Fruits with bright colours, such as apples, cherries, oranges, and cantaloupe (melon), are terrific choices.
3. Whole grains:
Grains are high in fibre and carbohydrates, which can help you feel more energised. Fibre-rich foods such as whole-wheat bread and pasta, oatmeal, and brown rice can help cancer patients digest their food more easily.
4. Ginger:
One of the most prevalent symptoms of liver cancer is nausea. Ginger tea is a good choice for nausea.
5. Healthy fats:
Fish oils, avocados, almonds, and seeds contain healthy fats that aid in the absorption of critical nutrients.
6. Water:
It's critical to stay hydrated during liver cancer therapy, so one needs to drink plenty of water.
Foods to Avoid
1. Foods high in salt:
These foods aggravate the symptoms of liver cancer. Limit your table salt intake. Reduce your intake of salt-laden processed meals. Pay close attention to the labels.
2. Alcohol:
It puts a strain on the liver.
3. Sugary foods:
Desserts such as candy, cakes, and other sweets are low in nutrients and high in sugar. Consider avoiding them.
Few things to keep in mind:
1. Consuming certain high-calorie foods can benefit you in generating the energy your body requires. This is especially critical if you're having trouble eating due to a lack of appe****e or other symptoms. Your healthcare professional can ****ist you in learning how to balance your nutritional requirements.
2. Undercooked fish or s****fish, such as raw oysters or sushi, should be avoided. Bacteria can be found in raw and undercooked fish, which can cause serious illness in persons who have liver problems.
3. Other types of liver illness may be present in persons with liver cancer, necessitating further dietary changes. Your doctor may advise you to take fat subs****utes if you have bile duct illness. They may advise you to reduce iron-rich foods like iron-fortified cereals if you have hemochromatosis or hepa****is C.
When you have liver cancer, getting enough calories, protein, and other nutrients is critical for healing and overall health. Malnutrition can increase your risk of complications, decrease your survival odds, and degrade your quality of life. Malnutrition may raise your risk of complications, lower your chances of survival, and reduce your quality of life.
Ask your provider what foods you should eat, limit, or avoid to help protect your liver and meet your body’s nutritional needs.

Dana-Farber Cancer Ins****ute researchers looked at the link between diet, gut-health and colorectal cancers. They found the risk of certain cancers went up if people were eating diets high in red and processed meat, refined grains and sugar. The study was published in the October 2018 issue of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

A study that's just about to be released on the power of a plant based diet in reducing both the progression and the likelihood of a cancer returning has once again blow me away! Another study in 2022 has shown extremely promising results as well linking a plant-based diet to a vastly lower risk of advanced prostate cancer!
