Breast Prostheses after Mastectomy

Paul Tanner studied art, science, and business to pursue his dream of making facial prosthetics for those without an ear, eye, or nose from cancer, trauma, or facial anomalies. A few years ago, his career unexpectedly turned to help those with breast cancer when he was asked not to make a prosthesis for a woman that had a mastectomy. The impact it had on that woman changed both of their lives.
Paul Tanner is an artist that creates illusions. His canvas is silicone and his work is literally life changing! He makes life-like prosthetics (ears, eyes, noses, nipples, breasts, fingers, hands, & feet) and absolutely loves what he does.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

- Details:
My favorite bra from anaono is called "Molly" and it's a plunge bra style in Medium, made of modal/tencel/rayon with 8% spandex. It is washed in a gentle cycle only and made in Columbia. Shop for this anaono bra here: https://www.anaono.com/product....s/pocketed-plunge-br
My favorite cotton blend bra is from MakeMerry, made in Indonesia. This one was a small, so they run large compared to anaono (I'm a 32D). It is 48% cotton, 48% modal and 4% elastane. It is a plunge style bra with an eyelet edging and a wider band around the bottom. Buy it direct here: https://shopmakemerry.com/collections/plunge-bra (no affiliation)
My favorite camisoles are called "Valletta" from Amoena. They are 82% modal, 11% elastane and 7% nylon. They have an inner "shelf bra" with pockets for prosthetics. My choice was US size six and it fits me very well. Handwash if possible. Here's an online distributor for this item: https://www.mastectomyshop.com..../new-amoena-tall-val (no affiliation)

Individually adjustable with innovative air chamber technology that allows the breast form size to be adjusted by simply adding or releasing air anytime - on the go or at home.
The air chamber is situated in the middle of the breast form between the cup layer and the Comfort+ layer.
To fill the chamber with air or release air, a special pump is needed.
Each Adapt Air breast form has a super soft specially designed valve to easily connect the pump. The pump is included in each breast form box together with detailed instructions for use.

For years this hand crafted, soft, and light weight alternative to a traditional breast prosthetic was only known about by a select few.
After several dead-ends trying to find out more about them, how to make them, and how to use them... Barbara made it her mission to create a website that combined all the best research and resources on the topic. That mission has grown to a vision of sharing the Knitted Knocker idea with volunteer knitters, breast cancer survivors, and the medical professionals who treat them. Her dream is to spread the model of regional groups of kindhearted knitters sharing their time and talent to hand craft these beautiful works of art as free gifts of inspiration and compassion for breast cancer survivors everywhere.
