El tumor miofibroblástico inflamatorio es un tumor poco frecuente. Su localización habitual es el pulmón, pero puede aparecer en otras localizaciones como en este caso, a nivel supraglótico. Suele presentarse como un nódulo pulmonar solitario, siendo este caso una presentación de nódulos múltiples a nivel supraglótico. Aunque se puede presentar a cualquier edad (en este caso se trata de un paciente de 64 años) es más frecuente en niños y adultos jóvenes. El comportamiento es agresivo localmente con un 5% de metástasis. Sin embargo, en el caso de este paciente, tras 4 años de seguimiento, la evolución es estable.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is a rare tumor. Its usual location is the lung as a solitary pulmonary nodule but it can appear in other locations, as in this case, at the supraglottic level. Although it can occur at any age (in this case a 64-year-old patient), it is more common in children and young adults. It is locally aggressive with 5% metastasis. However, in the case of this patient the evolution is stable after 4 years of follow-up.

Marta Casarrubios, MSc, Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro-Majadahonda, Madrid, Spain, talks on an analysis into pre-treatment tumor samples of patients from the Phase II NADIM (NCT03081689) trial undergoing neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy. A pro-inflammatory tumor profile in the pre-treatment samples of patients with complete pathological response (CPR) was found. The pro-inflammatory tumor profile may predict an effective immune response to nivolumab. This interview took place at the IASLC 2022 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Vienna, Austria.

Max and Kevin share a case that initially looked for all the world like a Pulmonary Hyalinizing Granuloma. However, the large size of the lesion and the cytologic atypia led to additional workup confirming a diagnosis of Solitary Fibrous Tumor.
