Thyroid Cancer

Once any swelling in the thyroid needs to be evaluated by a doctor. now what are the test done by the doctor in clinical examination to see the thyroid in the neck and what is the level of suspicion for cancer.
he also examines the rest of the neck to see if any link nodes are palpable. Once the suspicion is there next is usually done is an ultrasound of neck. Ultrasound of the neck is a simple test that tells the nature of the thyroid swelling whether it is solid or water filled, what is the level of blood supply.
The next step is confirmation of the presence of cancer. This is done by inserting a needle into the swelling part and aspirating out a small amount of material and looking under the microscope. This is generally called fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). This is the way thyroid cancer is diagnosed.
Now what happens after diagnosis means suppose after the FNAC done the patient may confirm the report he had dealing with thyroid cancer or not.
FNAC has its limitation that confirms the cancer is above the level or below the level.
