When standard treatment failed to halt the advance of Bill McCone’s cancer, the computer repair technician turned to a clinical trial of an immune checkpoint inhibitor. Within three months of starting on the immunotherapeutic, Bill’s tumors had shrunk 90 percent and there is now no evidence of disease in his body. There are a variety of signs and symptoms that may indicate the presence of head and neck cancer. These can include a persistent sore throat, Nasal cavity, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, change in voice, a lump or mass in the neck, ear pain, and changes in the appearance of the skin. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to see a doctor for further evaluation.
