When standard treatments failed to keep Kristin's acute lymphoblastic leukemia at bay, she enrolled in a clinical trial of a CAR T cell therapy. #CIM18 #CancerStories
In 2010, Kristin Kleinhofer was feeling healthy when she found a bump on the ride side of her head and thought it was just a “harmless cyst.” After her mother suggested she see a doctor, Kristin met with an oncologist and she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. When standard treatments failed to keep Kristin's cancer at bay, she enrolled in a clinical trial of a CAR T cell therapy in 2014. Two weeks before Christmas, a bone marrow biopsy confirmed that the cancer was gone and Kristin was in remission. “It was the best Christmas gift” for Kristin and her entire family. Now, almost four years later, Kristin celebrates life with her family and partner Benny, checking travel and other adventures off her bucket list. http://www.cancerresearch.org/patients.

No two cancer journeys are the same - it can impact different people in different, sometimes unexpected, ways.
In the last of the series, Mark, Kelly, Jonjo, Linda and David describe some of the ways they looked after their mental and physical health when on the road to recovery following treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL).
Each video in this series covers a different chapter in the journey of receiving a bone marrow transplant, a treatment option for some adults diagnosed with ALL.1
Whilst every cancer patient's experience is different, this video series hopes to give an insight into real stories, offer some practical advice and give support to anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis. However, individuals should always speak to their doctor or healthcare team when making any treatment decisions.
Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is a rare form of blood cancer that starts from white blood cells in the bone marrow. Although the majority of cases of ALL are diagnosed in younger people, it can also develop in adults.2
