What is a meningioma tumor?
Neurosurgeon Dr Arun L Naik discusses about 'what is a meningioma tumor' Meninigoma brain tumor is benign brain tumor. Meningiomas are commonest benign brain tumor we see in clinical practice. They arise from one of the coverings of the brain. Symptoms of meningioma are headache, vomiting, dizziness, seizures, walking difficulty, paralysis and speech defects. Early warning signs of meningioma are headache and seizures. How to diagnose meningioma. Types of meningioma are convexity meningioma, parasagittal meningioma, falcine meningioma, CP angle meningioma, cavernous sinus meningioma, intraventricular meningioma, suprasellar meningioma and orbital meningioma.
What are the Symptoms of meningioma brain tumor
Commonest symptom is Headache, occurring in the morning and with associated vomiting. many of my patients have Seizures or convulsions. There may be Hearing loss or ringing in the ears, limb weakness or paralysis, Visual disorders like blindness, Change in personality or behavior etc. Brain tumor signs are coma, fits and walking difficulty. early warning signs of brain tumors should not be neglected.
How to treat a meningioma : meningioma is usually treated by Surgery. A cranitomy surgery is done to remove the tumor. The tumor should be removed completely otherwise, the tumor can recur again.
Radiation therapy can be given in some recurrent meningiomas. Meningioma brain tumor survival rate depends upon the extent of treatment given.
