"Rare but Equal" is the title of The Mastocytosis Society, Inc. video created in honor of Rare Disease Day 2011. In this video patients, family members, and caregivers affected by mastocytosis and mast cell activation disorder answer the question "What does having a rare disease mean to you?" The soundtrack is an original song created by Giovanni Lamanna whose mother suffers from mastocytosis. The video was produced by Lisa W. Sterling, a member of TMS as well as a mast cell activation disorder patient.
