Patients who have had curative treatment for lung cancer are at an increased risk of developing second primary lung cancers (and other cancers) over the next 10 years. Robert Rintoul, BSc, MBChB, FRCP, PhD, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge, UK, discusses the SPORT trial (NCT04178889), a multi-center, observational study to follow patients who have undergone radical treatment, surgery or radiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) between two and five years previously. Blood samples will be analyzed to correlate the emergence of new primary cancer with blood-based markers. This interview took place at the 18th British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) 2020 congress held in Dublin, UK.
