Smart Bra Detects Cancer
According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most frequent illness in the region, with 129,000 new cases diagnosed in 2020. (WHO).
Kemisola Bolarinwa, a robotics engineer who designed the smart bra, told SciDev.Net that the idea came to her after her aunt died of late-diagnosed breast cancer in 2017 at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria.
The bra has tiny, battery-operated ultrasound sensors that connect to a mobile or web app.
